Cottage September 27~30, 2013

Overall a lovely weekend, weather was above normal in temperature, sunny for the most part.   Autumnal colours were everywhere, as Mother Nature extended her pallet.

Saturday the 28th we awoke to find the lake was missing under a thick white shroud of fog that burned off by 10:00am. Looking out was surreal, as the dock and canoe were visible, but the field of vision that would have been skyline, lake and distant lake shore was just a backlit white area of negative space.

Warm Fall days usually mean the ladybugs were plentiful, as they seek out  tree bark, hollow logs and the eaves of cabins.

Monday a family of Common Merganser (Mergus merganser), drifted by, one scored a sunfish in the shallow water, but missed that shot. Soon they will leave the lake to seek out open water, that won’t freeze over. The females sporting their rusty head plumage.
